Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung inspected the Refuse-Derived Fuel (RDF) Plant in Rorotan, Cilincing, North Jakarta, on Thursday (3/20), and met with local residents affected by the situation.

"Anyone, whether children or adults, whose health was affected due to yesterday's mistake, the government is responsible,"

He emphasized that the Jakarta Provincial Government is fully committed to addressing residents' complaints, including covering medical expenses for those affected.

"Anyone, whether children or adults, whose health was affected due to yesterday's mistake, the government is responsible. I apologize for that," stated Pramono.

Environmental Agency Ensures Integrated and Sustainable Jakarta Waste Management

He explained that the issue at the RDF plant in Rorotan was caused by the waste that had been stored for more than a month during the commissioning process. Ideally, waste should be processed within three days to maintain its freshness.

To address the issue, Pramono instructed Jakarta Environment Agency Head, Asep Kuswanto, to make immediate improvements, such as installing deodorizers to eliminate odors, adding filters to the smokestacks, and using covered garbage trucks to prevent leachate from spilling onto the streets.

Moreover, the government will also install air quality monitoring devices around the plant to ensure that the environmental impact remains under control.

With this measures, he reaffirmed his committed to addressing the issues at the Rorotan RDF and ensuring the health and comfort of surrounding residents.
